Finished Hat
I finished the hat.
Due to the small size of the yarn, I ended up modifying the pattern. Normally, when I work this pattern, I use a front post double crochet to create ribbing and put some give in the pattern. When working top down, the fpdc usually falls every third stitch or so depending on the yarn, hook and hat. With this very fine yarn, I ended up with six stitches between the front posts and it wasn’t working, so once I finished the “growing rows” at the top of the hat, I made a transition to fpdc every other stitch. It worked out well because the ribbing from the top of the hat continues right into the more frequent ribbing on the sides.
I could explain better if I had a picture to show you. Unfortunately, the camera is still unavailable due to the move. (I’d probably write more clearly if I were explaining pictures, too.)
Speaking of the move, our lives are chaos at the moment. We don’t have access to very much and we can’t find what we do have. The good news is this situation will change mid-March. At that point, we’ll have pretty much full access to everything again – assuming we can figure out what box it is in.
