Not just Spinning -- Knitting, Too

by The Spinning Guy

In addition to spinning, I have been working on some knitting projects. It’s getting close enough to that time of year where not all will be revealed about knitting. I can, however, offer some hints.

A couple years ago, when I was recovering from surgery, Pam purchased me a set of knitting looms. I’ve used them a few times, but now that I have the basics, I generally prefer needles. one thing the loom does do well at is large, rectangular, lacy objects.

Knifty Knitter knitting loom and wrap knit from handspun alpaca.

The object will be a wrap or a wide scarf. Yarn is handspun alpaca. Fiber is one of my custom blends. Judging by the texture (and my memory) the base is Drake’s seconds. The other colors are probably from one of the black animals (probably Jubilee or Del) and one of the brown animals (possibly Donovan or a trade fleece.). I love the color of this blend. The fiber is perfect for the technique. It’s not soft, but since a wrap is often worn over clothing, it should be fine. Besides, people wear wool wraps and this is still softer than most wool.
