The Poinsettia
Last Christmas, we got a poinsettia. You can see it in this post. You will note that in that post, I talk about wanting, among other things, a jumbo poinsettia.
I have always wanted to grow my own poinsettia. Most people I have talked to tell me it ca… more »
Not just Spinning -- Knitting, Too
In addition to spinning, I have been working on some knitting projects. It's getting close enough to that time of year where not all will be revealed about knitting. I can, however, offer some hints.
A couple years ago, when I was recovering from surg… more »
Does the Spinning Guy Still Spin?
Yes! The answer is yes!
I have been spinning -- steadily -- if not nearly enough. I'm still working on this fleece. It is a big fleece. I should say it was a big fleece. Some of it is yarn and much of it is singles and the rest is roving. I hate to sa… more »
A Visit to the Alpacas
Two Fridays ago -- has it been that long already -- we visited our alpacas. I'm pleased to say they are all doing well -- the ones we have sold and the ones we still own. They're looking really good.
And, it was great to see my babies.
This is as… more »
Still Spinning
I'm still here, still spinning. No pictures of the yarn, thought is is bright white.
I'm working on Anna's fleece, first mentioned in this post . It's a nice, bright white yarn with good luster. I'm really enjoying the fiber. The spinning is going wel… more »
Lonely Flew the Nest
We took to calling the last House Finch nestling Lonely because he or she sat there all alone for two days before flying off.
The next is now empty and hit has been removed from atop the pillar on the porch.

Babies
Our new house has these columns by the front door. We're not really column people, but they came with the house.
The day after we moved in, Pam told me there was a bird's nest over one of the columns and she thought we should take it down. I love bird… more »
Back
I'm back among the blogging.
Some people don't write well when they're stressed. Some don't write well when they're busy. Some can't write and craft at the same time.
Put me down as all of the above.
Stress:
The principle stress is a new house.… more »
Three Skeins
I have been spinning. I really enjoy spinning -- so much that sometimes after a long day at the computer -- my new day job -- I don't feel like blogging. I just spin. And the next day, I'm working on all these intense problems at the day job and when I g… more »
A Project I wasn't going to talk about
As Ron and Tara at Ambriel Acres Alpacas have noted on their blog, I am currently in the middle of a spinning project. I wasn't going to talk about the project, but since it's on their blog, I feel like I can go ahead and do so. I'm spinning Anna's 2007… more »
A Finished Project
For the past almost a week, I've been working on finishing up a project last summer. I've been spinning up the remaining Mocha Swirl blend. This is a blend I created two or three years ago, but I've never worked with more than a sample.

Where is The Spinning Guy and why isn't he writing?
I've got an excuse!

A Hat for My Brother
The reveal continues.
I knit a hat for my brother. The crown of the hat (fawn) is millspun sock yarn from Drake and others. It's not very soft, but my brother can wear wool and he's still got a full head of hair, so I figure the crown of the hat reall… more »
